Major of Malaysia’s consumers love to shop and buy during the sale period. They put a lot of efforts in gather the sale information from papers, magazines and friends. In conjunction with the rapid growth of internet, Malaysian starts using internet to make products comparison and search for local promotions and discounts. However, the research found that major of Malaysia consumers are not enthusiastic to purchase online. The consumers are rather collecting the information online and buy at retail stores. They feel more comfortable and safer to inspect the goods on the spot.
On other side, Malaysian’s level of trustee on online payment processing is increasing. Many merchants are start to sell online. The most popular online selling venues to Malaysian are forum, auction portal and classified portal. Consumers are prefer to buy at public portals in getting cheaper items because of competitors in one place. Price war on public portals greatly benefit the buyers.
Malaysia is having three seasonal sales in a year. There are “Spring Sales” from March to May, “Merdeka Sales” from July to September and “Christmas & Year End Sales” from November to February. The biggest offers will be in “Christmas & Year End Sales” where there are a lot of warehouse sale and stock clearance. “Merdeka Sales” come into second in celebrating Malaysia’s independent day.
